I read the HP books in th...Thanks for your tribute. I read the HP books in the 60s. The charaters were normal, rough, unpolished everyday types, but there was a richness to them nonetheless. I think the character who impressed me most was Dulcy Dulmer (sp?), McCloskey made him look sort of silly and yet sort of menacing at the same time. First, you state that he illustrated several books by others including Lentil; Lentil was his first book to write and illustrate. It preceded Make Way for Ducklings (his 2nd).
